Background: Goldilocks lives in a small town on the edge of a forest. To avoid doing chores, Goldilocks often sneaks out of the house and explores the woods.
DM: You are walking through the woods on a sunny afternoon. Make a spot check.
Goldilocks: 22.
DM: You see a small path off toward the North.
Goldilocks: I follow the path.
DM: After following the path for a few minutes, you walk up to the edge of a clearing.
Goldilocks: I look around the clearing.
DM: You see a house in the middle of the clearing.
Goldilocks: Are there any people around?
DM: You don't see anyone.
Goldilocks: I go up to the house. Are there any windows?
DM: Yes, there is one on the right-hand side of the door.
Goldilocks: I look in the window. What do I see?
DM: You see what looks like a kitchen. There's a table with some bowls.
Goldilocks: Is there anyone in the room?
DM: No.
Goldilocks: I open the door.
DM: The door opens freely and you step into the kitchen. On the table, you see three bowls and three spoons.
Goldilocks: I go up to the table. What's in the first bowl?
DM: It looks like porridge.
Goldilocks: Mmm... porridge. I pick up the closest spoon and take a bite.
DM: It's too hot. You take 1 point of damage.
Goldilocks: Ouch! I drop the spoon and look in the second bowl.
DM: It also has porridge.
Goldilocks: Does it look hot? Is there any steam?
DM: No. It doesn't look hot.
Goldilocks: I grab the spoon and take a bite.
DM: It's too cold. You take 1 point of damage.
Goldilocks: Ugh. I drop the spoon and look in the third bowl.
DM: It also contains porridge.
Goldilocks: I gently put my hand over the porridge without touching it. Does it feel hot or cold?
DM: You don't think it's hot or cold.
Goldilocks: I pick up the spoon and slowly take a small bite.
DM: It's just right for eating.
oldilocks: I eat the whole bowl.
DM: It's very delicious... maybe the best porridge you've ever had.
Goldilocks: Is there anything else in this room?
DM: No. Just the fireplace and a doorway into another room.
Goldilocks: I look in the other room.
DM: You see three chairs and a set of stairs leading up.
Goldilocks: I go up the stairs.
DM: You enter the loft and see three beds.
Goldilocks: Ooh, fun! I jump on the first bed.
DM: It's as hard as a rock. You take 1 point of damage.
Goldilocks: Ouch! I immediately get off the bed. I put my hand on the next bed. Is it softer?
DM: Yes. It feels softer.
Goldilocks: I jump on the second bed!
DM: It's so soft you start to sink down into the mattress. Make a reflex save to escape.
Goldilocks: 8.
DM: You get sucked down into the mattress. Make another reflex save.
Goldilocks: 17.
DM: You are able to make your way out of the mattress.
Goldilocks: I look at the third bed. I put my hand on the mattress. How does it feel?
DM: It's not as hard as the first and not as soft as the second.
Goldilocks: I climb into the bed.
DM: It's just right. In fact, it's so comfortable, you feel your eyes starting to close. Make a fort save.
Goldilocks: 4.
DM: You fall asleep. About an hours passes. Make a listen check.
Goldilocks: 9.
DM: You roll over and get comfortable again. A few more minutes pass. Make a listen check.
Goldilocks: 16.
DM: You hear a crash downstairs and wake up.
Goldilocks: I slowly get out of bed and creep over to the stairs.
DM: Make a move silently check.
Goldilocks: 20.
DM: You move fairly quietly over to the stairs.
Goldilocks: Do I see anything?
DM: No.
Goldilocks: I go down the stairs.
DM: As you enter the room, you see a large bugbear, a medium bugbear and a baby bugbear. Roll for initiative.
Goldilocks: 21.
DM: You're first. What do you do?
Goldilocks: I run for the front door.
DM: As you run past the large bugbear, he claws at you but misses. You get outside.
Goldilocks: I keep running until I get back to town.
DM: You make it without any trouble.
Goldilocks: I notify the town guard that a family of bugbears may come into town. Then, I go home and crawl under my bed.
